Our Journey Unveiled –

The Waterloo Region Chinese Canadian Association (WCCA) was established in 2002 and was initially named the Chinese Professional Association of Canada’s Tri-Cities Chapter (CPACTT). It was officially registered as the Waterloo Region Chinese Canadian Friendship Association in 2007 and was renamed the Waterloo Region Chinese Canadian Association in 2019. Over the past two decades, WCCA has experienced significant growth, becoming the largest Chinese association in the region, thanks to the dedication of numerous volunteers and generous support from sponsors, donors, and government levels.

WCCA has established a robust platform in the region, providing services to its members and the community. People of all ages actively participate in WCCA-organized activities, including club activities in seventeen clubs and two committees, as well as major annual events such as the Spring Fair, Summer Cultural Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Chinese New Year celebration. The clubs have been praised for participating in local multicultural activities and visiting local nursing homes.

Since its inception, giving back to the community has been a core commitment of WCCA. The association has organized several successful food donation events for local food banks. In 2016, funds were raised for the Canadian Red Cross following the Alberta wildfires. In 2017, members participated in a charity walk to raise funds for St. Mary’s Hospital. During the three-year COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022, WCCA and its members delivered and provided personal protective equipment to isolated individuals, seniors, and frontline healthcare workers. WCCA also raised funds to support three local hospitals in response to the pandemic. In 2023, WCCA partnered with the Grand River Hospital Foundation to launch a fundraising campaign, selling T-shirts featuring the special edition “Care Never Stops” slogan, with all proceeds donated to the foundation, demonstrating the association’s continued commitment to community welfare and support.

WCCA dedicates itself to serving the Chinese community and collaborating with all stakeholders within and outside the community to create a more prosperous, inclusive, and harmonious society.

[1]In 2018, the Waterloo Region Chinese Canadian Association (WCCA) adopted the motto “Together. Better.” This brief phrase encapsulates WCCA’s vision of unity and collaboration, inspiring members to work collectively toward positive change and growth within the community. Since its adoption, “Together. Better.” has been a guiding principle, fostering a sense of solidarity among members and driving WCCA’s initiatives to create a more harmonious and prosperous society.
